Right-hander Kevin Gausman struck out nine, Daulton Varsho hit a grand slam and the Toronto Blue Jays trounced the visiting San Diego Padres 14-0 on Wednesday night.

Gausman (4-4) allowed three hits and no walks in seven innings as Toronto clinched the three-game series with consecutive shutouts. Nathan Lukes had a two-run homer in a three-hit game.

The Padres played a sloppy game, including four errors, in losing their fifth straight. Luis Arraez doubled and tripled for San Diego to extend his hit streak to eight games.

Manny Machado had two hits, including a fourth-inning double on a drive to the right-field wall that eluded George Springer’s leap. Gausman retired the next two batters, leaving the Padres 0-for-29 with runners in scoring position over their past five games.

Toronto hit right-hander Randy Vasquez (3-4) hard in the fifth. Anthony Santander led off with a single off the right-field fence, and two outs later, Lukes hit a first-pitch hanging sweeper out to right. Vasquez allowed two runs on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.

Addison Barger led off the home seventh with a single against Adrian Morejon and moved to second when Machado erred on Ernie Clement’s grounder to third. Machado committed his second error of the inning when he fumbled Lukes’ sacrifice bunt to load the bases. A run scored on Bichette’s fielder’s choice grounder to second that Jake Cronenworth fumbled before settling for the force at second. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. then blooped an RBI single to center to extend his on-base streak to 21 games. Springer was credited with an RBI single against Alek Jacob on a grounder to third when Arraez couldn’t handle Machado’s off-line throw to first.

Pinch hitter Jonatan Clase then hit a two-run double.

Bichette had an RBI single and Varsho hit a grand slam in the eighth before outfielder Tyler Wade replaced Jacob and allowed Barger’s RBI double and Clement’s RBI single.

Santander left the game in the seventh with hip inflammation.
