Michael Conforto had a go-ahead RBI single to cap a three-run eighth inning, and the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied to earn a 6-5 victory over the visiting New York Mets in the final game this season between 2024 National League Championship Series foes.

Will Smith drove in two runs and Mookie Betts reached base four times with an RBI double as the Dodgers won for the second time in the four-game series. The Mets won the season series 4-3.

Alex Vesia (2-0) recorded the last out of the eighth inning to pick up the win and Tanner Scott pitched the ninth for his 11th save. Dodgers starter Landon Knack gave up four runs with a career-high five walks in 3 1/3 innings.

Pete Alonso hit a home run for the Mets, his third in two games. Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte also homered, with Marte finishing with a season-high three hits.

New York left-hander David Peterson was left with a no-decision after giving up three runs on seven hits in seven innings.

The Dodgers trailed 6-4 in the eighth when Betts had a leadoff walk against Reed Garrett (1-2) and scored on a Smith double. Teoscar Hernandez flew out to center to advance Smith to third. Smith then scored on a ground ball to third base when Brett Baty botched the throw home.

Against his former club, Conforto gave the Dodgers their first lead of the game with an RBI single to left.

New York failed to score in the first inning for the first time in the series but still grabbed the lead in the second thanks to Alonso’s 15th home run of the season.

The Mets made it 4-0 in the third when Nimmo and Marte hit back-to-back homers followed by a sacrifice fly by Baty.

The Dodgers pulled within 4-3 in the third as Betts smacked an RBI double, Smith delivered a run-scoring single and Hernandez plating another run on a groundout.

The Mets pushed their lead to 5-3 in the eighth when Marte doubled off Jose Urena with two outs and Alonso had an RBI single.

The Mets were without Francisco Lindor after he fractured a toe on his right foot in Wednesday’s game.
