True to his word, Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez is in the starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, Calif.
Rodriguez was listed to bat second in the team’s lineup on Sunday, one day after he needed to be helped off the field in an 8-6 setback to the Angels.
The two-time All-Star was hit by batter Randy Arozarena’s 98.1 mph one-hopper off the bone above his right ankle while attempting to steal third base. X-rays were negative.
“There’s a high chance that I should be in the lineup (on Sunday),” Rodriguez told reporters after the game. “So just seeing how it reacts through the night and like how I wake up tomorrow. But I feel very positive that tomorrow will be a better day.”
Rodriguez, 24, is batting .254 with 10 home runs and 33 RBIs in 62 games this season.
