Prized prospect Roman Anthony hit his first home run in the major leagues and Lucas Giolito pitched six scoreless innings as the Boston Red Sox defeated the host Seattle Mariners 2-0 Monday night for their sixth consecutive victory.

Boston was playing its first game since trading Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants.

The Mariners had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Giolito (3-1), a right-hander, allowed three hits, walked one and struck out a season-high 10 batters in helping Boston post a second straight 2-0 win after beating the New York Yankees by the same count Sunday at Fenway Park.

Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman struck out the side in the ninth for his 13th save in 14 opportunities this season.

Mariners starter Logan Gilbert (1-2), who had been out since April 25 with a right elbow flexor strain, nearly matched Giolito. The righty went five innings and allowed two runs on three hits, with one walk and tied a season-high with 10 strikeouts.

Anthony, playing in his seventh game since being recalled from Triple-A Worcester, went deep to right-center field in the first inning off Gilbert, hitting a 2-2 fastball an estimated 391 feet. It snapped an 0-for-12 slump for Anthony, who had just one hit in his first 17 at-bats.

The Red Sox added a run in the third after Jarren Duran hit a two-out triple into the right field corner. Former Mariner Abraham Toro got the RBI as he reached on an infield single on which rookie second baseman Cole Young made a diving stop but was unable to get the ball out of his mitt quickly enough as Toro hustled down the first base line.

The Mariners threatened in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases with no outs as Dominic Canzone, Ben Williamson and Cole Young all singled to left. Giolito fanned J.P. Crawford, who hit his fifth career grand slam Sunday, Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh to get out of the jam.

Starting with those strikeouts, Giolito retired the final 12 batters he faced.

The Mariners put two runners on base in the seventh and eighth innings but couldn’t push a run across against relievers Justin Wilson and Greg Weissert.
