Bryan Reynolds hit a three-run home run and Alexander Canario hit two doubles to lead the host Pittsburgh Pirates to a 9-1 victory over the New York Mets on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series.

Reynolds’ 402-foot home run — his ninth of the season — off Mets reliever Blade Tidwell in the sixth inning made it 9-1 Pirates, which halted a two-game skid and won for the third time in five games.

The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Mets and was their 11th defeat in their past 14 games.

The Pirates jumped ahead with four runs in the second off Mets starter David Peterson (5-4). Jared Triolo singled, Canario doubled and Isiah Kiner-Falefa (two hits) singled to drive in a run apiece, then Tommy Pham drove in a fourth on a groundout.

Peterson gave up five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over 4 2/3 innings.

Kiner-Falefa, Ke’Bryan Hayes and Andrew McCutchen had two hits each for Pittsburgh.

Juan Soto got the Mets on the board in the fourth with his 20th home run of the season off Pirates starter Mitch Keller (2-10) to cut their deficit to 4-1.

Keller would not surrender any more runs as he recorded his first win since March 28. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and one walk with four strikeouts.

Brett Baty posted two hits for New York.

Brandon Nimmo was hit by a pitch on the left wrist from reliever Genesis Cabrera in the eighth but remained in the game. Cabrera made his team debut, tossing 1 1/3 shutout innings with one strikeout.
