Idan Toklomati scored in the first half and Charlotte FC made it stand, running their winning streak to six matches in MLS play with a 1-0 victory against visiting Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.
Kristijan Kahlina made seven saves for Charlotte (14-11-2, 44 points), which has not lost an MLS match since June 28 and posted its second consecutive 1-0 victory after beating FC Cincinnati last Sunday.
Charlotte sits one point back of Miami and Columbus, who are tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference.
Kahlina posted his third straight clean sheet in an MLS game and his eighth of the season.
Playing in his first full MLS season, Toklomati has seven MLS goals this season, including three in his last four matches.
For Real Salt Lake (9-13-4, 31 points), it was the first trip to Charlotte in franchise history. which made its first visit to Charlotte. Rafael was credited with one save in the loss.
Toklomati stretched his points streak to four matches by converting on a header courtesy of a delivery from Ashley Westwood in the 35th minute. That was the only shot on goal for Charlotte in the first half.
Five of Kahlina’s saves came in the second half.
Real Salt Lake played without midfielder Diego Luno, who served a one-match suspension because of a red card received last Sunday against the New York Red Bulls. He later was fined by the league for failing to leave the field in a timely manner.
It was only the second meeting between the teams, with Real Salt Lake winning 3-1 in Sandy, Utah in 2023.
