Alec Bohm and Nick Castellanos homered, and the Philadelphia Phillies held on to defeat the host Washington Nationals 11-9 on Sunday.

The Phillies, who blew an early 6-0 lead, earned a split in the four-game series.

Bohm, returning to action from the 10-day injured list (rib), drove in three runs and scored twice in his first game since July 18.

The Nationals, who got a three-run homer from Paul DeJong – his sixth – in the ninth to make it close, had won three of their last four.

Philadelphia’s Jhoan Duran got the final two outs for his 21st save.

Tanner Banks (5-2) got the win and P.J. Poulin (0-1) took the loss.

Phillies starter Aaron Nola allowed six runs and seven hits in 2 1/3 innings with a walk and four strikeouts. It was Nola’s first start since May 14, having been sidelined on the 60-day IL with a right ankle sprain and a right rib stress fracture.

Philadelphia re-took the lead 8-6 on Weston Wilson’s bases-loaded, two run single in the fourth.

Castellanos hit a solo home run in the sixth to make the score 9-6. He hammered an 0-2 four-seam fastball from Shinnosuke Ogasawara into the stands beyond the bullpen in left field for his 16th homer.

The Phillies added two more in the eighth on Bryce Harper’s RBI single and Harrison Bader’s sacrifice fly.

Washington scored six runs in the third to tie the game 6-6.

CJ Abrams had an RBI single, Daylen Lile a two-run, bases-loaded single, Dylan Crews a two-run double and Jose Tena an RBI double.

Philadelphia took a 1-0 lead in the first on Washington third baseman Brady House’s error on Bohm’s grounder.

The Phillies scored five in the second to make it 6-0.

Kyle Schwarber and Harper produced RBI singles and Bohm hit a three-run homer. He drove a 1-0 four-seam fastball over the left-field fence for his ninth home run. It also sent Nats starter Mitchell Parker to the showers after just 1 2/3 innings over which he allowed six runs (five earned) on five hits with three walks.
