Team Spirit pulled out a 2-1 victory over Team Liquid on Saturday to advance into the grand final of FISSURE Universe: Episode 6 on the first day of the double-elimination playoffs portion of the event.
Spirit, which swept through Pool A of round-robin play with a perfect 4-0 record, took 42-minute and 38-minute victories in the first and third matches. It advances into Sunday’s grand final of the Dota 2 event, where the winning team will win $125,000 and the losing team earns $60,000
Team Liquid, which won Pool B with a 3-1 record, was the first team to win a match against Spirit in the event, taking the middle match in a 30-minute victory but suffering a 2-1 defeat. Liquid falls into the lower bracket final, where it will face Team Falcons, which won two matches Saturday to finish the day as one of three final teams remaining.
Team Falcons first took a 2-1 victory over Aurora Gaming in the lower-bracket quarterfinals, coming away with 29- and 38-minute victories. Aurora won the middle match in 32 minutes.
Team Falcons then defeated PARIVISION 2-1 in the lower-bracket semifinal, winning marathon 64- and 56-minute matches after PARIVISION took the opener in 41 minutes.
PARIVISION finishes in fourth place after sweeping BetBoom Team 2-0 with 53 and 39-minute victories in its quarterfinal matchup.
The event concludes Sunday with a best-of-three lower-bracket final before a best-of-five grand final determines the winning team.
