Cloud9 squandered a two-map lead but still emerged with a 3-2 win over Disguised to start the playoffs on Friday in the League of Legends’ Championship of The Americas North 2025 Split 3 at Los Angeles.
The win sends Cloud9 to the lower-bracket semifinal next week against the victor of the Saturday match between Team Liquid and 100 Thieves.
Shopify Rebellion and FlyQuest will meet in the upper-bracket final on Sunday, with the winner earning a berth in the grand final on Sept. 7.
Playoff matches are best-of-five. The top three teams will qualify for the LoL Championship of The Americas, scheduled for Sept. 13-28 in Allen, Texas, and the winner qualifies for the World Championship that begins Oct. 14 in China.
On Friday, Cloud9 opened with a 34-minute win on blue and a 28-minute win on red, but Disguised responded with two wins on red, in 41 minutes and 29 minutes.
On the decisive fifth map, Cloud9 prevailed in 31 minutes on blue behind a 14-2-4 kill-death-assist ratio from South Korea’s Lee “Loki” Sang-min.
Loki was selected the match’s Most Valuable Player after recording an overall 27-10-37 K-D-A ratio.
