G2, Hanwha Life reach KO stage at World Championship

G2 Esports and Hanwha Life won their matches Wednesday to reach the Knockout Stage at the $5 million League of Legends 2025 World Championship in Beijing.

Hanwha Life swept CTBC Flying Oyster and G2 rallied for a 2-1 victory over FlyQuest in their Round 4 High Matches in the Swiss Stage.

Teams need three wins in the five-round Swiss Stage to reach the Knockout Stage, while teams with three losses are eliminated. All matches are best-of-one except for elimination and advancement matches, which are best-of-three.

Eight teams will make the Knockout Stage, a single-elimination bracket starting Oct. 28 where all matches are best-of-five. The winner of the Nov. 9 grand final will earn $1 million, with $800,000 going to the runner-up.

G2 and Hanwha Life joined KT Rolster and Anyone’s Legend in the Knockout Stage.

In Wednesday’s action, Hanwha Life defeated CTBC Flying Oyster with 31- and 35-minute wins on red. FlyQuest opened with a 38-minute victory on blue, but G2 answered with 32- and 35-minute wins on red.

Thursday’s Swiss Stage schedule continues with two best-of-three matches:
