The Carolina Hurricanes will look to make it back-to-back wins when they conclude a six-game road trip in Dallas against the Stars on Saturday night.

Carolina re-entered the win column with a 5-4 shootout win over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night, three nights after having their five-game winning streak snapped in Las Vegas.

Seth Jarvis scored the shootout winner and added a goal and an assist in regulation as the Hurricanes, who blew a 4-1 lead, recovered to secure two points at Colorado.

Eric Robinson, Sebastian Aho and Logan Stankoven also scored for Carolina while goaltender Frederik Andersen made 44 saves in the victory.

“(Andersen) was the reason we got two points, for sure. I don’t think we’ve ever given up that many shots and Grade-A chances,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “It wasn’t even the shots, it was the great scoring chances. He was phenomenal, and then even in the shootout. So, he got us the two points.”

“Hockey is weird. We’ve been on the other end of a lot of those, and now we know how it feels,” Brind’Amour added. “That’s not great, but I’m happy here that we, obviously, got the points. The guys that were playing (were) just giving everything they had.”

Hurricanes forward William Carrier left in the first period with a lower-body injury, while Robinson didn’t return for the third period due to an upper-body injury. K’Andre Miller missed the game due to an undisclosed injury.

“They’re going to be out, both those guys, Robbie and Will, for what looks like an extended period,” Brind’Amour said. “Tonight was a tough night for the injuries, and Miller missed, too. I don’t know what’s going on there. That could be a while. So, it’s tough on the injury front right now.”

Saturday is the first of two meetings between the Hurricanes and Stars, and the first since the trade that sent star forward Mikko Rantanen to the Stars for a package that included Stankoven at last season’s trade deadline.

Carolina swept the two matchups last season, outscoring Dallas 8-5.

The Stars limp into Saturday’s contest winless in four straight following a 3-2 overtime loss to the visiting Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

Wyatt Johnson had a goal and an assist, Jason Robertson scored the other goal and Roope Hintz chipped in a pair of helpers for the Stars, who are 0-3-1 in their last four games and 1-2-1 on home ice this season.

Jake Oettinger, who has started all six games this season, made 22 saves and dropped to 3-2-1.

“I thought we played well, and they got the last laugh,” Robertson said. “It was a neutral zone battle for a bit. A lot of breakouts, a lot of dumps. Scoring chance-wise, I’m sure it was pretty even 5-on-5, but it felt like we were both suffocating each other. It was a tight-checking game; they’re a good team, and it came down to the wire.”

The Stars and Hurricanes conclude the season series on Jan. 6 in Raleigh.
