Artemi Panarin notched a goal and two assists, leading the New York Rangers to a 4-1 win over the host Detroit Red Wings on Friday.

Alexis Lafreniere supplied a goal and an assist, Will Cuylle and Noah Laba also scored, while Mika Zibanejad added two assists. Jonathan Quick made 32 saves for the Rangers, who have won seven straight against the Red Wings.

New York is 7-1-1 in road games this season.

J.T. Compher scored for Detroit, which had a five-game home winning streak come to an end. Cam Talbot stopped 22 shots.

Red Wings forward Patrick Kane returned to action after missing the previous nine games due to an upper body injury.

The Rangers scored just four power play goals this season but converted on their first opportunity Friday. With Andrew Copp in the penalty box for hooking, Cuylle lifted a shot past Talbot from the left side. Zibanejad and Panarin were credited with assists.

Laba had a chance to make it 2-0 on a breakaway during a shorthanded situation but Talbot made a pad stop.

Detroit tied it shortly after New York killed off its penalty. Mason Appleton made a pinpoint pass from behind the net to Compher, who one-timed it past Quick. Copp collected the second assist.

Seconds after the Red Wings killed off their second penalty early in the second period, New York took a 2-1 lead. Laba scored during a scramble in front of the net. Lafreniere and Panarin notched the assists.

Cuylle was helped off the ice with 14:20 remaining after blocking a Simon Edvinsson shot.

Panarin gave the Rangers some breathing room with 12:31 remaining. Zibanejad dug the puck off the boards and passed it to Panarin, who beat Talbot on the glove side. Taylor Raddysh picked up the second assist.

Lafreniere collected a pass from Conor Sheary and slipped behind the Red Wings defense while scoring with 11:33 left to make it 4-1.

The Rangers complete a back-to-back set when they host the New York Islanders on Saturday. Detroit continues a four-game homestand against Chicago on Sunday.
