Toronto Raptors forward Brandon Ingram was fined $25,000 for spiking his water bottle on the floor in a show of frustration against the Philadelphia 76ers.

NBA executive James Jones, the league’s head of basketball operations, penalized Ingram on Monday for his outburst in the third quarter of Toronto’s 130-120 road loss Saturday.

Ingram was replaced by a substitute with 6:25 on the clock after being whistled for an and-one foul on Trendon Watford, whose driving layup increased the 76ers’ lead to four points. Ingram received a technical foul for delaying the game as he left the court.

The 10-year veteran threw the water bottle as he sat at the far end of the bench. The bottle bounced, struck a crouching game attendant in the upper arm and splashed several people who were seated courtside, including a cameraman and Raptors teammate Scottie Barnes.

The game was delayed further so the court could be dried.

Ingram returned after one possession and finished with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists in 37 minutes.

He is averaging 21.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists with the Raptors, who traded for Ingram in February but shut him down for the duration of last season while he recovered from an ankle injury.

Ingram previously averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 305 career games with the New Orleans Pelicans, with whom he was an All-Star and the league’s Most Improved Player in 2019-20.
