Surging Suns make it 6 of 7 with easy win over Trail Blazers

Devin Booker recorded 19 points, five assists and three steals in three quarters of action as the Phoenix Suns cruised to a 127-110 road victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night.

Reserve Collin Gillespie made four 3-pointers and also scored 19 points as the Suns won for the sixth time in seven games. Mark Williams had 15 points, backup Oso Ighodaro scored 14 on 6-of-7 shooting and Dillon Brooks added 12 points for Phoenix.

Shaedon Sharpe scored 29 points to lead the Trail Blazers, who lost their third straight game and fell for the fifth time in six outings. Deni Avdija tallied 19 points and Caleb Love had 17 off the bench for Portland.

Phoenix racked up 19 steals, led by Ryan Dunn’s five. Joining Booker with three steals apiece were Brooks and Jordan Goodwin.

The Suns connected on 48% of their shots and hit 14 of 40 (35%) from 3-point range. Goodwin added 10 points for Phoenix.

Suns guard Grayson Allen (quadriceps) sat out for the second straight game.

Portland shot 43.3% from the field and made 10 of 41 (24.4%) from behind the arc. Jrue Holiday (calf) missed his second straight game, and Jerami Grant (illness) also sat out for the Trail Blazers.

Donovan Clingan contributed nine points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots for Portland.

The Suns led by three at halftime before Brooks scored the first seven points of the third quarter as Phoenix opened with 12 in a row to take a 76-61 advantage.

Ighodaro’s dunk made it 95-77 with 1:34 left in the period. The lead was later 20 before Phoenix took a 100-82 edge into the fourth quarter.

The Trail Blazers made just 5 of 22 field-goal attempts (22.7%) and committed eight turnovers while getting outscored 36-21 in the third quarter.

Gillespie drained a 3-pointer and Goodwin added a dunk as the Suns took a 112-87 lead with 8:45 remaining, and Phoenix closed it out.

Booker scored 13 first-half points as Phoenix led 64-61 at the break. Sharpe had 20 points in the half for the Trail Blazers.
