The New York Knicks were frustrated by another road loss in their last outing.

Their next opponent, the Brooklyn Nets, is without a home win.

The Knicks on Monday night will attempt to bounce back from their latest disappointing road showing when they visit the Nets, who are winless in their first seven home games.

New York, while 8-1 at home this season, is just 1-5 on the road, with the win occurring Wednesday against the Mavericks. The 113-111 victory in Dallas was decided when the Mavericks were called for an offensive foul on the final possession.

The Knicks’ first five road losses were by 10 points or less. However, they fell 133-121 in Orlando Magic on Saturday. New York was outscored 69-55 in the second half and allowed its opponent a season-high 55.3% shooting from the field, including 65% in the third quarter.

It was the fourth time the Knicks allowed at least 50% and the third time on the road. New York allowed at least 120 points for the sixth time and lost despite shooting a season-best 54.4%.

“We just didn’t really play our style of basketball,” New York’s Josh Hart said. “We were slow, not crisp offensively and defensively. So we go back to the drawing board. We’ve got to make the corrections.”

Jalen Brunson scored 33 points, but New York also committed 17 turnovers for its second-highest total this season and committed a season-worst 28 fouls as it became flustered by a more physical opponent.

The Knicks, already without forward OG Anunoby (hamstring), will be without guard Landry Shamet (shoulder) on Monday and might be without guard Miles McBride (illness).

Brooklyn took a 134-98 road loss to the Knicks on Nov. 9 and is winless in the past 11 meetings since triumphing 122-115 at home on Jan. 28, 2023.

On Sunday, the Nets never led and wilted late in a 119-109 loss to the Toronto Raptors. Brooklyn allowed the first 12 points of the game and was outscored 15-5 in the final 4:24 of the fourth quarter, continuing a recent trend of struggling down the stretch.

Last Tuesday, the Nets sufferd a 113-99 home loss to the Boston Celtics by getting outscored 24-14 in the fourth. On Nov. 14, Brooklyn allowed the final 11 points of a 105-98 loss in Orlando.

Tyrese Martin came off the bench to score 26 points against Toronto and Michael Porter Jr. added 25, but the Nets allowed 26 points off 19 turnovers. Rookie Egor Demin also struggled through his worst game since being elevated to the starting lineup on Nov. 7. In 28 minutes, he was held to five points, shot 2 of 10 from the field and missed three shots during Toronto’s game-ending run.

“A lot to clean up, a lot to learn from this game,” Brooklyn coach Jordi Fernandez said. “I’m still proud of the group because we found a way to tie the game and fight for it, so some positives for sure, but got to be better.”
