PARIVISION eke out win to advance at Budapest Major

PARIVISION prevailed in double overtime on the final map to edge Legacy 2-1 on Thursday and earn the final berth in Stage 2 of the StarLadder Budapest Major in Hungary.

In other Round 5 matches as Stage 1 concluded, FaZe Clan edged Fluxo 2-1 and Imperial Esports swept NRG 2-0.

Thirty-two teams began play in the $1.25 million Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event, which features three consecutive Swiss System stages ahead of the playoffs. Sixteen teams compete in each stage. Eight invited teams will start in Stage 2, and eight more get a bye into Stage 3. The top eight teams in each stage move on.

In each Swiss System stage, elimination and advancement matches are best-of-three and all others are best-of-one.

The tournament concludes with a single-elimination playoff stage Dec. 11-14. All matches are best-of-three until the grand final, which is best-of-five. The winner will take home $500,000.

On Thursday, PARIVISION opened with a 13-9 win on Ancient before NRG equalized with a 13-5 victory on Inferno. In the marathon finale, on Dust II, PARIVISION emerged with a 19-16 win.

Andrey “BELCHONOKK” Yasinskiy led all-Russian PARIVISION with 52 kills, while Dzhami “Jame” Ali had a team-best plus-9 kill-death differential. Bruno “latto” Rebelatto topped all-Brazilian Legacy with 63 kills and a plus-20 K-D differential.

FaZe Clan posted a 13-6 victory on Inferno, but Fluxo extended the match with a 13-7 win on Nuke. FaZe Clan wrapped up the series by capturing Mirage 13-10.

Canada’s Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken powered FaZe Clan with 51 kills and a plus-8 K-D differential. Romeu “zevy” Rocco wound up with 50 kills and a plus-16 K-D differential for all-Brazilian Fluxo.

Imperial Esports trounced NRG 13-8 on Nuke, 13-5 on Train behind 38 kills and a plus-20 K-D differential from Brazil’s Kaiky “noway” Santos. The United States’ Jeorge “Jeorge” Endicott paced NRG with 30 kills and a plus-1 K-D differential.

Stage 2 starts Saturday with eight matches:

–Passion UA vs. FaZe Clan

–Natus Vincere vs. FlyQuest
