Team Liquid and Cloud9 each won on Saturday to remain unbeaten and move into a tie atop the standings at the LCS Spring event in Los Angeles.
Cloud9 escaped with a 2-1 win over Dignitas, which fell to 0-5, while Team Liquid swept Disguised, which is 1-4 through five weeks of regular-season competition.
Eight teams will compete in best-of-three matches in the round-robin regular season before advancing to the playoffs of the League of Legends event, which will be contested in best-of-five matches in a double-elimination format. The top two teams will qualify for the Mid-Season Invitational.
Cloud9 remained unblemished with a pair of 32-minute victories on red over Dignitas sandwiched around a 35-minute defeat on blue.
Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme of Canada earned MVP honors for Cloud9 with his 3-4-33 kill-death-assist ratio. American Lawrence “eXyu” Xu was the MVP for Dignitas and had a 7-10-21 K-D-A ratio.
Team Liquid completed its 2-0 sweep of Disguised with a 30-minute win and a 33-minute triumph, both on blue.
Argentina’s Brandon “Josedeodo” Villegas led the Liquid charge with a 19-3-13 K-D-A ratio, while Christian “KryRa” Rahaian of Canada was the best contributor for Disguised with a 4-7-6 K-D-A.
Week 5 concludes Sunday with LYON facing Sentinels and Shopify Rebellion taking on FlyQuest.
