Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker will be sidelined for a week with a right groin sprain that forced him out of Monday’s win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
The team confirmed Booker was out and would be reevaluated before returning.
The injury occurred late in the first quarter of the 125-108 win, which boosted the Suns’ record to 13-9. He did not return to the game.
Booker will miss a challenging road trip. The Suns play successive games against three teams that are currently in the top six of the Western Conference. The stretch begins Friday at Houston, continues Monday at Minnesota, and concludes Wednesday at Oklahoma City. The Thunder sit atop the West with a league-leading 21-1 record.
If he’s able to return after a week, he would be available for the first game of two straight against the Golden State Warriors.
Booker, 29, is a four-time All-Star for the Suns and is leading the team in points (25.0) and assists (6.7) through 22 games this season.
