Barrington Hargress scored 23 points and Sebatian Rancik added 15 to lead Colorado to a 88-64 nonconference win over UTSA on Saturday in Boulder, Colo.

Jamir Simpson led UTSA with 20 points and Brent Moss added 11 for the American Conference school.

After a sluggish first half, the Buffaloes (9-1) outscored the Roadrunners (4-6) 53-32 in the second half.

Hargress hit 9 of 12 shots from the field and made 5 of 7 3-pointers.

Rancik also had seven rebounds and Bangot Dak scored 10, and had four assists and two blocked shots for the Big 12 school.

The Buffaloes used a 15-2 run to build a 59-41 lead with 13:15 left.

An Isaiah Johnson layup with 12:12 left sparked an 8-0 run that ended with a Dak dunk and a 69-45 Colorado lead.

Josiah Sanders had a pair of layups in the run. The Buffaloes had no turnovers in the second half at that point.

The Buffaloes led 35-32 after a sloppy first half for both teams.

With 8:52 to go in the half, Hargress hit a 3-pointer to give Colorado a 20-17 lead.

A minute later, it was still 20-17 and the two teams had combined for 14 turnovers (seven each). There were 17 combined turnovers by halftime.

The Buffaloes finally pulled ahead by six when Hargress hit his third 3-pointer of the game and Sanders split two free throws for a 27-21 Colorado lead.

Kaidon Rayfield cut the lead back to three by scoring on a layup and hitting a 3-pointer to make it 29-26 with 4:36 left in the half.

Johnson, however, boosted the lead back up to six with a layup and the free throw for a three-point play and a 32-26 Colorado lead with 2:06 left.

The Roadrunners came right back as Akitoby scored on a layup and a jumper, sandwiched around a Hargress jumper, to make it a three-point lead at the break.

The teams went back and forth early, without a lot of scoring.

Dak hit a jumper and came back with a three-point play off a dunk to make it 17-13 with 11:15 left in the half.
