Sergio Garcia signed a multi-year contract extension with LIV Golf on Friday and will return to his role as the team captain for Fireballs GC.
The move also comes after Garcia did not renew his DP World Tour membership for 2026.
Garcia will lead countrymen David Puig, Josele Ballester and Luis Masaveu in the league’s first all-Spanish lineup. Masaveu takes the roster spot of Mexico’s Abraham Ancer, who transferred to the all-Latin American Torque GC to replace the relegated Mito Pereira.
“Returning to Fireballs GC and LIV Golf reinforces everything we are building,” Garcia said in a statement on Friday. “With David and Josele playing well in 2025 and Luis joining the team for 2026, our identity and competitive edge are stronger than ever, rooted in pride, purpose, and our collective emotional connection to the game of golf. LIV Golf continues to set the pace globally, and I’m committed to leading this group as we push forward and keep raising the standard.”
Garcia, 45, won his second LIV Golf tournament title by finishing atop the leaderboard at Hong Kong this past season. The 2017 Masters champion finished ninth in the individual standings, while Fireballs GC ended up third in the regular-season team standings.
LIV Golf opens the 2026 season at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from Feb. 4-7. The league is switching from 54 holes to a 72-hole format in its fifth season.
