Zoom Diallo scored 22 points and Hannes Steinbach 21 when Washington ended a two-game losing streak with an 81-74 victory over Ohio State in Seattle on Sunday.

The Huskies (10-6, 2-3 Big Ten) used a burst early in the second half to pull away after trailing by two at the half.

Bryson Tucker scored 12 and Franck Kepnang added 11 for the Huskies. Steinbach grabbed nine rebounds.

Bruce Thornton scored 28 and freshman Amare Bynum had a career-high 20 points for the Buckeyes (11-5, 3-3).

Ohio State was trying to win its first four Big Ten road games for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

The Buckeyes scored 21 unanswered points to help down Oregon 72-62 in its previous game, but this time the Buckeyes were victimized.

The Huskies had a 14-0 run to take a 52-45 lead on a Kepnang hook shot with 14:19 left in the game. Bynum’s layup ended the streak.

Washington first took its biggest lead of eight, 71-63, with 4:15 remaining.

Ohio State 7-foot center Christoph Tilly left at the 15:50 mark of the second half with an undisclosed injury. He had eight points and four rebounds in 15 minutes. The Buckeyes trailed 50-45 at the time of his exit.

The Buckeyes held a 38-36 halftime lead behind Bynum’s 12 points in a highly competitive first 20 minutes.

The Huskies shot 50% from the floor while the Buckeyes hit 48.4%. The difference in the score was one made field goal, with each team going 4 of 10 from beyond the arc and 4 for 4 from the free throw line.

There was one lead change when Bynum’s turnaround jumper put the Buckeyes ahead 8-6, and the score was tied on four occasions.

Ohio State’s biggest lead of the first half came with 11:51 to play when Bynum canned a 3-pointer to make it 21-12.

Steinbach, the Huskies leading scorer (18.2 average), had 14 points and six of their 10 rebounds through 20 minutes. That was one area Ohio State pressed an advantage with 20 boards.
