Kasperi Kapanen and Jack Roslovic had two goals each in a six-goal second period to give the Edmonton Oilers a 6-0 blowout victory on Saturday over the host Vancouver Canucks, who are still looking for their first win of 2026.

Zach Hyman and Vasily Podkolzin also scored, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two assists and Tristan Jarry stopped 31 shots for his second shutout of the season. The Oilers have won four of their last five games on the road.

Nikita Tolopilo made 29 saves for the hapless Canucks, who suffered their franchise-record tying 10th-straight loss. Tolopilo got the nod in goal after starter Kevin Lankinen was scratched due to an illness.

The lopsided defeat also means the last-place Canucks begin an eight-game homestand with their seventh consecutive loss on home ice and 11th in their last 12 at home.

Roslovic rolled a soft backhand through the legs of Tolopilo from the side of the net to open the scoring at 3:11 of the second period.

Hyman scored on the power play at 6:49 with Canucks forward Conor Garland off for high sticking to make it 2-0. Defenseman Evan Bouchard started the play at the point, moved in and slid the puck down to a waiting Hyman. He took a backhand that Tolopilo stopped, but the puck deflected in off the right skate of defenseman Filip Hronek.

Kapanen snuck behind the Canucks’ defense and fired a shot off the left post to make it 3-0 at 11:42. Kapanen was sprung free off a nice pass from teammate Nugent-Hopkins, who was playing in his 999th NHL game.

Roslovic scored his second of the game on a tap-in after taking a pass from Isaac Howard to give the Oilers a four-goal lead at 14:31.

Not to be outdone, just 37 seconds later, Kapanen potted his second to make it 5-0 and the rout was on. Nugent-Hopkins did all the hard work, spinning away from Canucks forward Elias Pettersson before saucering a pass over to Kapanen in front.

Podkolzin then scored at 16:34 to make it 6-0.

The Oilers were missing forward Leon Draisaitl, who returned to his native Germany to visit a sick family member.

The teams conclude their season series on the final day of the regular season in Vancouver on April 16.
