Freddie Dilione V scored 16 points to lead a balanced attack as Penn State earned its first Big Ten Conference road victory of the season with a 63-60 decision against Washington on Wednesday night in Seattle.

Josh Reed scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, Kayden Mingo added 13 points, six boards and three assists and Eli Rice, who missed the previous two games with a head injury, scored 12 for the Nittany Lions (11-14, 2-12 Big Ten).

Hannes Steinbach led Washington (12-13, 4-10) with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Wesley Yates III scored 11 for the Huskies, who failed to make a field goal in the final 2:44.

Mingo’s jumper in the lane off a turnover with 1:22 left broke a 59-all tie.

After Steinbach went 1 of 2 at the free-throw line with 22 seconds left, Rice made two free throws with 20 seconds remaining for the final margin.

Penn State shot 48.1% from the field (25 of 52), including 5 of 13 from 3-point range, while limiting the Huskies to 37.7% (23 of 61).

Yates opened the second half with a 3-pointer and Zoom Diallo made two free throws to put the Huskies up 37-35.

Reed scored Penn State’s next eight points, making a pair of 3-pointers and a layup off an offensive rebound, for a 43-39 lead.

The Huskies’ last lead came on Franck Kepnang’s dunk with 2:44 remaining, but Dilione made a pull-up jumper with 2:11 left to tie it at 59-all.

The Nittany Lions led 35-32 after a back-and-forth first half that featured three ties and nine lead changes.

Yates scored the Huskies’ first six points and a 3-pointer by Bryson Tucker and a Steinbach layup off a turnover gave them an 11-6 lead.

Trailing 15-10, the Nittany Lions went on a 10-0 run with Rice making a pair of layups and Mingo capping it with a jumper in the lane.

The Huskies responded with an 8-0 run as Steinbach scored twice off offensive rebounds, the latter turning into a three-point play, before Quimari Peterson made a 3-pointer on a fastbreak to put Washington back in front.

The teams traded the lead until Rice made a 3-pointer to give Penn State a 29-25 edge.

Melia Tunca’s turnaround jumper put the Nittany Lions up 35-29 with 1:03 left, the largest lead for either team in the half.

Peterson closed the half with another 3-pointer to halve Penn State’s advantage.
