Dylan Cozens broke a third-period tie and sparked the Ottawa Senators to a crucial 4-1 comeback victory over the Calgary Flames on Thursday.

Lars Eller, Tim Stutzle and Shane Pinto also scored for the Senators, who are on a 7-1-2 run that is keeping them in the playoff picture.

Ottawa goaltender Linus Ullmark made 19 saves. He is on a personal 8-0-3 streak.

Ottawa is four points back of the Boston Bruins for the Eastern Conference’s second wild-card spot.

Martin Pospisil tallied for the Flames, who have dropped four straight games (0-3-1) and have managed only three victories in 13 games (3-7-3), which leaves them a dozen points outside a Western Conference playoff position.

Goalie Devin Cooley stopped 33 shots in a gritty performance that gave the hosts a chance to win.

Cozens broke a 1-1 deadlock at 6:33 of the final frame. While Ottawa was on the power play, he was left alone in the slot, took a pass from Brady Tkachuk and whipped a high shot home.

Stutzle and Pinto sealed the victory with empty-net goals.

Stutzle is riding an 11-game point-scoring streak in which he has collected seven goals and eight assists.

Calgary, which has been outscored 14-4 in its four-game swoon, actually opened the scoring.

Pospisil, who missed the first half of the season while dealing with a concussion, scored his first goal since Feb. 25, 2025. Rookie Matvei Gridin stole the puck in Ottawa territory and set up Pospisil in the slot to open the scoring at 17:04 of the first period.

Eller tied the clash just before the midway point of the second period. After a Calgary turnover at the blue line, Ridley Greig fired a cross-ice pass to Eller in the high slot, and he immediately unloaded a one-timer to snap a 34-game goal drought. Coincidentally, Eller’s last goal, on Oct. 30, 2025, also came against Calgary.

The Senators made a couple of trades prior to the game, acquiring Warren Foegele from the Los Angeles Kings and dealing the injured David Perron to the Detroit Red Wings.

New Flames defenseman Olli Maatta, acquired in the trade that sent MacKenzie Weegar to the Utah Mammoth, did not suit up.
