Scoot Henderson, Blazers add to Pacers’ misery in dominant win

Scoot Henderson scored a season-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to an easy 131-111 victory over the visiting Indiana Pacers on Sunday night.

Jrue Holiday (five 3-pointers) and Jerami Grant (four) scored 21 points apiece as the Trail Blazers won for the second time in three games.

Portland All-Star Deni Avdija (back) returned from a six-game absence and had 18 points, eight assists and five rebounds in 24 minutes for the Trail Blazers.

Henderson added six assists and didn’t commit any turnovers in 26 minutes of action. Robert Williams III had 12 points off the bench while starters Toumani Camara and Donovan Clingan each collected 11 rebounds.

Pascal Siakam had 22 points, six rebounds and five assists as the Pacers lost their ninth consecutive game. Indiana has dropped its past six games by an average of 19.7 points.

Jay Huff scored 16 points, Andrew Nembhard added 14 points and nine assists and Jarace Walker also had 14 points for the Pacers. Micah Potter added 13 points off the bench for Indiana.

Portland shot 50.5% from the field, including 15 of 41 from 3-point range. The Trail Blazers held a 53-38 rebounding edge.

The Pacers made 43.2% of their attempts and were 14 of 42 from behind the arc.

Henderson scored 19 first-half points as the Trail Blazers jumped out to a 69-52 lead at the break. Siakam had 13 points in the half for the Pacers.

The score was tied at 30 after the first quarter before Portland outscored Indiana 70-50 over the next two periods.

Indiana led 45-44 after Nembhard’s 19-footer just past the midway point of the second quarter before Portland erupted with 20 of the next 22 points. Grant capped a run of 14 straight with a layup to push the margin to 17 with 44 seconds left.

Holiday drained a 3-pointer to start the third quarter to make it 72-52. Indiana moved within 13 on a basket by Nembhard with 8:25 left, but the Trail Blazers controlled the rest of the period to take a 100-80 advantage into the final stanza.

Camara and Henderson each drained 3-pointers during a 13-6 push as the lead reached a game-best 24 at 123-99 with 4:50 remaining.
