Nazem Kadri scored two power-play goals 1:06 apart in the first period, Nathan MacKinnon scored his NHL-leading 49th goal and added two assists, and the Colorado Avalanche routed the Calgary Flames 9-2 in Denver on Monday night.

Colorado’s Parker Kelly, Jack Drury and Martin Necas had a goal and two assists each. Sam Malinski and Artturi Lehkonen had a goal and an assist apiece for the Avalanche, who snapped a four-game home losing streak (0-3-1). Gabriel Landeskog added a goal.

Colorado defenseman Cale Makar had three assists but didn’t play in the third period due to an upper-body injury suffered late in the second. Brock Nelson contributed two helpers and Scott Wedgewood turned away 27 shots.

Brennan Othmann and Ryan Strome scored for Calgary and Devin Cooley made 28 saves after replacing Dustin Wolf midway through the first period. The Flames had won five of six.

Sharks 5, Blues 4

Adam Gaudette scored the game-winner with 22 seconds remaining in regulation as San Jose edged visiting St. Louis.

Gaudette put his wrist shot under goalie Joel Hofer’s glove for his 15th goal of the season. Macklin Celebrini and Alexander Wennberg each scored twice and added an assist for the Sharks. With the second point of his three-point night, Celebrini became the sixth teenager in NHL history to register 100 points in a season.

Theo Lindstein, Pavel Buchnevich, Philip Broberg and Cam Fowler tallied for the Blues, who had their four-game winning streak end.

Golden Knights 4, Canucks 2

Reilly Smith scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and Adin Hill made 22 saves as Vegas defeated Vancouver in John Tortorella’s Golden Knights coaching debut in Las Vegas.

Rasmus Andersson, Shea Theodore and Cole Smith also scored goals for Vegas, which snapped a three-game losing streak while winning for just the second time in eight games. Tortorella took over for Bruce Cassidy, who was fired on Sunday.

Evander Kane, playing in his 1,000th NHL game, and Brock Boeser scored goals for the Canucks, who lost their sixth straight game. Kevin Lankinen finished with 30 saves.

Penguins 8, Islanders 3

Anthony Mantha scored twice and added an assist and Pittsburgh produced a five-goal second period amid seven unanswered goals to claim a comeback victory over New York in Elmont, N.Y.

Rickard Rakell scored twice, Bryan Rust posted one goal and one assist, and Elmer Soderblom, Ryan Shea and Avery Hayes also scored for the Penguins, who jumped over the Islanders for second place in the Metropolitan Division. Justin Brazeau notched three assists while Sidney Crosby collected two assists in his return after missing the previous game due to a lower-body injury.

Mathew Barzal netted one goal and one assist while Anders Lee and Brayden Schenn both scored once for the Islanders. Adam Boqvist and Cal Ritchie both collected a pair of assists. New York’s starting goalie, Ilya Sorokin, surrendered seven goals on 28 shots before being pulled.

Maple Leafs 5, Ducks 4 (OT)

John Tavares capped a two-goal, one-assist night by scoring with five seconds left in overtime as visiting Toronto bested Anaheim in an entertaining though predictably physical clash.

Tavares sealed the deal for the Maple Leafs with a tip on the doorstep off a low, quick feed from Morgan Rielly. William Nylander tallied four points on the night, including the tying goal halfway through the third period. Rielly had a goal and an assist, Matthew Knies added a goal and Easton Cowan and Oliver Ekman-Larsson each had two assists.

Leo Carlsson scored twice for Anaheim, which has lost two in a row (0-1-1). John Carlson and Cutter Gauthier also scored, and Jackson LaCombe logged two assists.
