Six players had an RBI apiece Thursday night for the host San Francisco Giants, who rolled to a 7-2 win over the New York Mets in the opener of a four-game series.

Luis Arraez delivered a game-tying RBI triple in the first and Matt Chapman followed two pitches later with the go-ahead run-scoring double for the Giants, who have won three of four since being swept by the New York Yankees in the season-opening series.

Bo Bichette had an RBI double in the first and Mark Vientos homered in the second for the Mets, who have lost three straight. New York has scored just 14 runs since an 11-7 Opening Day win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Chapman added a third first-inning run when Mets starter David Peterson dropped the throw from Vientos covering first on Jung Hoo Lee’s grounder. Lee and Harrison Bader lofted sacrifice flies in the third and Casey Schmitt laced an RBI single in the fifth before Rafael Devers homered in the seventh.

Daniel Susac and Schmitt, the Giants’ eighth- and ninth-place hitters, each went 3-for-3. Susac, making his first big league start in his second appearance, had hits in the first two at-bats of his career. Arraez, Chapman and Devers collected two hits each.

Robbie Ray (1-1) earned the win by allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven over 5 1/3 innings. Ryan Walker, who had the Giants’ lone save entering Thursday, got the final two outs of the sixth before Blake Tidwell — acquired by San Francisco from the Mets last July — tossed three innings of two-hit ball for his first career save.

Peterson (0-1) gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out five over 4 1/3 innings. The nine hits allowed tied a career-high for Peterson, who also surrendered nine against the Washington Nationals on May 15, 2023.
