Tyler Soderstrom and Carlos Cortes each homered during a five-run third inning Saturday for the surging Athletics, who held off a rally by the host New York Mets to earn an 11-6 victory.

Soderstrom, who hit a two-run homer in the third, added a three-run round-tripper in the eighth for the Athletics, who have won four in a row and five of six overall following a 2-6 start.

Cortes delivered a three-run shot later in the third against Kodai Senga (0-2). Denzel Clarke drew a bases-loaded walk in the second, when Lawrence Butler put the Athletics ahead for good with a run-scoring fielder’s choice.

Shea Langeliers had a run-scoring single immediately before Soderstrom’s eighth-inning homer.

Soderstrom and Jeff McNeil each went 3-for-5 while Jacob Wilson and Max Muncy added two hits.

Bo Bichette hit a two-run homer while Francisco Alvarez and Jorge Polanco had solo shots for the Mets, who have dropped four in a row immediately after a four-game winning streak in which they outscored the opposition 28-8. Brett Baty lofted a sacrifice fly.

Bichette reached base four times via two hits and two walks and collected three RBIs. Alvarez had two hits.

Jacob Lopez (1-1) earned the win after allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over five innings.

Senga allowed a career-high seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three over 2 1/3 innings. He allowed four runs over 11 2/3 innings in his first two starts this season.

Bichette had an RBI single in the first before the Athletics knocked Senga around in the second and third, when they scored seven runs while collecting seven hits and two walks.

The Mets began mounting their comeback bid in the fifth, when Francisco Lindor singled and Bichette hit a two-out homer. Alvarez led off the sixth with a homer and the Mets pulled within 7-5 when Baty, pinch-hitting for Tyrone Taylor, hit a sacrifice fly.

Polanco opened the seventh with a homer that landed just fair down the right field line, but the Athletics scored four runs with two outs in the eighth against Luke Weaver.
