The New York Giants signed general manager Joe Schoen to a multiyear contract extension on Thursday.

The move comes several months after the Giants fired the head coach who was hired the same year as Schoen, Brian Daboll, and replaced him with former Super Bowl champion John Harbaugh.

Pro Football Talk reported that Schoen was entering the last year of his contract in 2026 before this extension.

Schoen, 46, joined New York in 2022 after five years as assistant general manager of the Buffalo Bills, where Daboll was on the coaching staff. The Giants went 9-7-1 in their first year on the job, made the playoffs and won a wild-card game, but they haven’t been to the postseason since.

The Giants are 22-45-1 in Schoen’s four seasons on the job.

Harbaugh has touted his working relationship with Schoen thus far, and Schoen told reporters earlier this week that the feeling was mutual.

“We were able to get on the same page right off the bat in terms of what we were looking for, in terms of team building, trying to find the right type of guys that fit our scheme and our system,” Schoen said. “We were aligned from Day 1. So it’s been great. It has been a really good offseason for us.”

Under Schoen, the Giants drafted Jaxson Dart (2025), who is now in line to become their franchise quarterback, as well as contributors Cam Skattebo at running back (2025) and No. 1 wide receiver Malik Nabers (2024).

New York dealt disgruntled defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals for the 10th overall pick in this spring’s draft, giving the Giants two top-10 picks they spent on Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese and Miami offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa.
