Dallas wide receiver George Pickens attended his first offseason practice with the team on Tuesday, after skipping the voluntary portion of the Cowboys’ offseason program.
Pickens did not participate in team drills on Tuesday, the first day of mandatory minicamp.
The decision was precautionary, as the Cowboys did not want to risk a soft tissue injury for Pickens.
“Fired up to have him back. He’s fired up to be here,” Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said. “He’ll do all the mock, he’ll do all the individual (drills). Just let him watch, and he’ll be Coach Pickens today.”
Pickens, 25, signed the franchise tag on April 29, guaranteeing him $27.3 million for the upcoming season. However, talks about a long-term contract were put on hold earlier this offseason.
Pickens earned his first Pro Bowl in his first season in Dallas in 2025, making 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round in 2022 and played three seasons there before being traded to the Cowboys during the 2025 offseason.
