Jake Bauers blasted a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning and the Milwaukee Brewers held on for a 3-2 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the rubber game of their three-game series on Sunday afternoon in Phoenix.

Jackson Chourio had two hits for the Brewers, who have won five of seven.

Milwaukee starter Brandon Sproat allowed one run and five hits over four innings. The right-hander struck out four and walked three on 92 pitches.

Grant Anderson, Drew Rom (1-0), Aaron Ashby and Abner Uribe combined to allow one run in four innings of relief before Trevor Megill pitched the ninth for his 13th save.

Diamondbacks left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (7-3) brought a shutout into the seventh inning before he was victimized by Bauers. He allowed two runs on five hits, striking out three without a walk.

Geraldo Perdomo had three hits and scored a run for Arizona, which has lost three of four.

Arizona took a 1-0 lead on back-to-back one-out doubles in the first inning by Perdomo and Corbin Carroll.

Following Brice Turang’s leadoff single in the first, Rodriguez retired nine in a row before Chourio singled to start the fourth. Christian Yelich sacrificed him to second, but Rodriguez retired the next two batters to end the threat.

Rodriguez surrendered a leadoff single again in the seventh to Andrew Vaughn, bringing up Bauers, who launched a 1-1 curveball over the fence in right-center field for a 2-1 lead.

Kevin Ginkel came in and surrendered a double to Gary Sanchez and an RBI single by Joey Ortiz to stretch the lead to 3-1.

After scoring the early run, the Diamondbacks couldn’t capitalize on a leadoff walk in the second, or Perdomo’s infield single to begin the third.

They also stranded runners on the corners in the fourth before loading the bases with one out in the seventh. Arizona could only plate one run on a fielder’s choice to cut it to 3-2.

Ildemaro Vargas drew a leadoff walk for Arizona in the eighth and was sacrificed to second, but was doubled up on a lineout to second by Pavin Smith.
