Alex Bregman and Ian Happ each ripped an RBI double in the 10th inning to fuel the visiting Chicago Cubs to a 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday afternoon.

Nico Hoerner collected three hits and Michael Busch added two — including an RBI single in the seventh inning — to propel the Cubs to their third win in the four-game series.

Automatic runner Seiya Suzuki advanced to third base on a groundout in the 10th inning and came around to score after Bregman’s hit down the right-field line off rookie Luis Gastelum (2-2). Bregman didn’t wait on second for long, as Happ followed with an RBI double to right field.

The late offense made a winner out of Jacob Webb (4-2), who allowed one hit in 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Aaron Civale retired both batters he faced in the 10th to secure his first save of the season.

Gastelum permitted two runs on two hits in one inning.

JJ Wetherholt belted a solo homer in the seventh inning for the Cardinals, who lost for the 10th time in their last 13 games.

Bryan Torres’ RBI single to left field opened the scoring in the second inning before the Cubs forged a 1-1 tie in the fourth.

Bregman legged out a one-out double and scored from second base on Happ’s flyout. Nootbaar, the right fielder, appeared to forget the number of outs in the inning before overthrowing the cut-off man in his haste, allowing Bregman to tie the game.

St. Louis starter Andre Pallante allowed a one-out walk in the seventh inning to Dansby Swanson, who promptly stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch by reliever George Soriano. Swanson was able to trot home after Busch lined a single to left field to give the Cubs a 2-1 lead.

The advantage didn’t last long, as Wetherholt deposited a 2-1 sweeper from Caleb Thielbar over the wall in right field.
