Tristan Peters drew a game-ending walk with the bases loaded in the 11th inning and Randal Grichuk had two hits to lift the host Chicago White Sox to a 2-1 victory against the New York Yankees on Thursday.

American League Central-leading Chicago earned a split of the four-game series, winning the final two games in extra innings.

With two outs in the 11th, losing pitcher Fernando Cruz (4-5) threw four straight balls to Peters to force automatic runner Chase Meidroth home. Cruz had worked back from a 3-0 count to strike out Colson Montgomery one batter earlier.

Seranthony Dominguez (4-3) pitched a scoreless 11th to earn the victory. The White Sox collected their ninth walk-off win while the Yankees fell to 1-8 in extra innings this season.

Trent Grisham had two hits for New York.

The teams traded runs in the 10th. Grisham delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the top half and Chicago answered with Andrew Benintendi’s run-scoring single.

Both starting pitchers shined. Yankees left-hander Ryan Weathers yielded a one-out single to Munetaka Murakami in the first inning and a two-out double to Grichuk but kept Chicago off the scoreboard.

The White Sox produced baserunners in the third through sixth innings, including a pair of Meidroth walks. Weathers left them stranded each time while spacing three hits, three walks and four strikeouts over seven scoreless innings.

Chicago righty Sean Burke delivered six shutout innings for his fifth quality start in as many July outings. He scattered three hits and two walks while collecting 10 strikeouts for the second successive start.

Burke reached that strikeout total after four innings before navigating more contact over his final two frames. He stranded Austin Wells after a one-out double in the fifth. One inning later, Jasson Dominguez lined a ball to the right field corner but was retired trying to stretch a double into a triple.

Dominguez arrived at third base before the relay from the outfield but was tagged out by Montgomery when he slid past the bag.

New York claimed the season series, 4-3.

The Yankees fell 3 1/2 games behind first-place Tampa Bay in the AL East while the White Sox extended their edge on Cleveland in the Central to two games.
