Shohei Ohtani homered, Teoscar Hernandez tripled and doubled, and the Los Angeles Dodgers held off a late surge to beat the Colorado Rockies 7-6 in Denver on Tuesday night.

It was Ohtani’s third home run in the first two games of the series. Tommy Edman doubled twice and Freddie Freeman also had two hits for Los Angeles. Tanner Scott, elevated to closer with Edwin Diaz going on the injured list, picked up his 17th save.

Catcher Hunter Feduccia left the game with one out in the bottom of the seventh for an undisclosed reason.

Willi Castro homered and scored three runs and TJ Rumfield and Jake McCarthy had two hits for each Colorado, which has dropped its first two games following a 5-4 road trip.

The Rockies nearly tied it late. They pushed a run across in the eighth to make it 7-5 and Castro’s RBI single in the ninth cut it to one. But Scott got Rumfield to pop out to shortstop to end the game.

Both teams scratched across a run in the first inning, with Max Muncy’s sacrifice fly giving Los Angeles the lead and Cole Carrigg driving in McCarthy with a double.

In the third inning, Ohtani made Feltner pay for a leadoff walk to Feduccia with a 448-foot homer to right-center, his 30th of the season. Colorado answered in the bottom of the inning when Rumfield and Connor Norby hit consecutive RBI doubles.

The Dodgers jumped back in front in the fourth inning. Edman, Kyle Tucker and Hernandez led off with three straight doubles to make it 5-3, and Freeman’s sacrifice fly to center made it a three-run game.

Castro made it 6-4 with a solo shot in the fifth, his 14th of the season, but Los Angeles answered in the sixth when Hernandez led off with a triple to center. Parker Mushinski relieved starter Ryan Feltner and Hernandez eventually scored on Freeman’s single.

Feltner (5-7) allowed seven runs on eight hits over five-plus innings.
