Alex Bregman went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, including a walk-off RBI single in the ninth inning, to boost the host Chicago Cubs to a 4-3 victory against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

The Cubs clinched a series victory against the American League Central-leading White Sox by winning in their last at-bat for the second straight night.

Bregman singled against Trevor Richards (0-1) with two outs in the ninth after the game was delayed by rain for nearly 90 minutes in the bottom of the eighth.

Winning pitcher Jacob Webb (6-2) worked a scoreless ninth.

Colson Montgomery went 3-for-4 and Tristan Peters had two hits and an RBI for the White Sox.

White Sox opener Bryan Hudson yielded solo home runs to Pete Crow-Armstrong and Michael Busch in the first inning. Crow-Armstrong hit a leadoff homer for the second straight game while collecting his third long ball of the series, giving him 31 on the season.

Erick Fedde stabilized the White Sox after enduring early struggles of his own. Pedro Ramirez and Ian Happ singled to start the bottom of the second, giving the Cubs runners at first and third with no outs. A two-out walk to Crow-Armstrong loaded the bases, but Fedde induced Seiya Suzuki on a groundout to shortstop, beginning a stretch of 11 straight batters retired.

Fedde spaced three hits, two walks and five strikeouts in 4 2/3 scoreless innings of bulk relief.

The White Sox chipped away at Cubs starter Kevin Gausman, who navigated cramping in his left, non-throwing hand as his outing progressed.

Drew Romo contributed an RBI single in the second inning before Munetaka Murakami drilled his 29th home run, an opposite-field, solo shot off the video board in left, to tie the game in the third. Peters gave the White Sox a 3-2 lead with a run-scoring double in the fourth.

Cubs trainers tended to Gausman two batters later. Gausman threw a series of warmup pitches and remained in the game but exited his home debut for the North Siders after allowing a one-out single in the fifth.

Gausman scattered three runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out five.

The Cubs capitalized on two walks from Huascar Brazoban to start the bottom of the seventh. After fanning Crow-Armstrong and Suzuki, Grant Taylor allowed Bregman’s game-tying single to left field.
