Baylor still No. 1 in AP poll; Michigan State drops out

The Baylor Bears and Gonzaga Bulldogs remain the top two teams in the nation in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, released Monday.

The Bears captured 48 of 64 first-place votes from a media panel in the poll released Monday to stay at No. 1, with No. 2 Gonzaga receiving 15 first-place votes and No. 3 Kansas getting one.

It’s the fourth straight week that Baylor (21-1) and Gonzaga (25-1) have held the top spots.

Michigan State, the preseason No. 1, dropped out of the Top 25 after three straight losses. The Spartans (16-8) were ranked No. 16 last week.

Rounding out the top 10 were No. 4 San Diego State (24-0), which remains the nation’s only undefeated team, followed by Louisville (21-3), Dayton (21-2), Duke (20-3), Florida State (20-3), Maryland (19-4) and Seton Hall (18-5).

The Pirates, who sit atop the Big East standings, moved up two spots after defeating Villanova 70-63 on Saturday. The Wildcats (17-6) fell to No. 15.

Penn State (18-5) made the biggest leap, climbing nine spots to No. 13 after beating Michigan State and Minnesota. Colorado (19-5) rose eight places to No. 16.

Moving into the Top 25 for the first time this season is Marquette (17-6) following a win over No. 19 Butler. Texas Tech (15-8) also re-entered the group at No. 24.

Arizona (16-7) dropped out of the Top 25 following a 65-52 loss to UCLA on Saturday. The Wildcats were No. 23.
