The top four teams remained the same in the first college basketball AP Top 25 poll of 2019 on Monday, with Duke retaining its No. 1 ranking ahead of Michigan, Tennessee and Virginia. The Blue Devils earned 37 of the 64 first-place votes, with the Wolverines (nine), Volunteers (13) and Cavaliers (five) splitting the rest of the ballots. Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports Michigan (15-0), Virginia (13-0) and No. 17 Houston (15-0) are the only remaining unbeaten teams in the Top 25. Gonzaga moved back into the top five, courtesy of Kansas’ 77-60 loss at Iowa State on Saturday, with the Jayhawks dropping to seventh behind Michigan State. Texas Tech, Virginia Tech and Nevada round out the top 10. Auburn moved up one spot to No. 11, North Carolina climbed three places to No. 12 and Florida State fell four spots to No. 13 after its loss at Virginia. No. 14 Mississippi State and No. 15 North Carolina State each rose three places. No. 16 Ohio State dropped two spots after a loss to the Spartans, and No. 18 Kentucky dropped from 13th after a loss at Alabama. Buffalo occupies the No. 19 position. The victory against Kansas propelled No. 20 Iowa State into the rankings for the first time this season, followed by Marquette, Indiana and Oklahoma. No. 24 St. John’s cracks the list for the first time since January 2015 and No. 25 TCU returns to the poll after a six-week absence. A trio of Big Ten teams — Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin — dropped out of the poll. For the second consecutive week, no teams from the Pac-12 are represented in the Top 25. –Field Level Media
