The San Francisco Giants placed catcher Buster Posey on the seven-day concussion injured list Thursday. It is unclear when Posey sustained a head injury, but The Mercury News reported that he took multiple hard foul balls off his mask last weekend in Cincinnati. Posey, 32, is batting .245 with two homers and 13 RBIs in 32 games this season. This is the second time the six-time All-Star and 2012 National League MVP has been placed on the concussion list. In April 2017, he was struck in the helmet by a fastball from Arizona right-hander Taijuan Walker. Posey is not permitted to speak with reporters while in concussion protocol, but Giants skipper Bruce Bochy was expected to address the media before Thursday afternoon’s game at Colorado. San Francisco also placed left-hander Drew Pomeranz on the 10-day injured list with a left lat strain. Pomeranz is 1-4 with a 5.93 ERA in seven starts in his first season with the Giants. In corresponding transactions, the team recalled right-hander Tyler Beede and catcher Aramis Garcia from Triple-A Sacramento. –Field Level Media
