The famed island green on the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass provides one of the greatest theaters in golf.

Fan attendance will be capped at 20 percent this year due to COVID-19, but much of the drama in The Players Championship will remain focused on the short par-3.

The water surrounding the hole has claimed an average of 42.8 balls over the past 10 events at TPC Sawgrass. DraftKings is offering the over/under on balls in the water at 17 this week at 43.5, while SportsBetting.com has set the market at 45.5.

PointsBet has broken the total water balls prop into three buckets:

  • 48 or more (+150)
  • 37-47 (+175)
  • 36 or fewer (+200)

The book is also offering +10000 odds that a player will hit double digits on the hole this week. The highest-ever score on No. 17? That belongs to Bob Tway, who recorded a 12 in the third round in 2005.

The per-round over/under at DraftKings for balls in the water at 17 is 14.5 for the first two rounds and 7.5 for each of the weekend rounds.

Aces Few And Far Between

There have been eight hole-in-ones on 17: four coming in the first round, one in the second, two in the third and only one in the final round — by Fred Couples in 1997.

DraftKings is offering +1200 odds that there will be multiple aces at 17 this week, a feat that has never been accomplished. PointsBet is offering shorter odds at +800 for the same prop market.

The most difficult pin position is the traditional Sunday spot on the right side of the green, perilously close to the right edge of the putting surface and over the green-side bunker. DraftKings is offering +900 odds on a hole-in-one on 17 in the final round compared to -2500 longshot odds of no Sunday ace on the hole.

SportsBetting.com is offering +300 odds that there will be an ace on 17 during any round this week compared to -500 of there being none.

Player-specific 17th Hole Markets
