Sixth-seeded Brandon Nakashima rallied past Britain’s Jacob Fearnley on Monday as grass court season got underway at the BOSS Open in Stuttgart, Germany.

Nakashima recorded 12 aces and committed only 22 unforced errors in a 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-1 win to remain on track for a possible quarterfinal meeting with top-seeded home favorite Alexander Zverev.

Eighth-seeded Czech Jiri Lehecka defeated France’s Benjamin Bonzi 6-4, 6-4 and German wild card Jan-Lennard Struff defeated Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi by the same score. France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard outlasted Russia’s Roman Safiullin 7-6 (10), 3-6, 7-5.

Libema Open

Chile’s Nicolas Jarry scored a first-round knockout of No. 8 seed Luciano Darderi of Italy 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (3) on the grass in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

Jarry trailed 3-2 in the second set before breaking Darderi’s serve on the sixth break point in the sixth game helped turn the tables. No. 1 seed Daniil Medvedev of Russia awaits Jarry if both players reach the quarterfinals.

No. 6 Jordan Thompson of Australia beat Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 6-4 and No. 7 Nuno Borges of Portugal was a 7-6 (2), 6-2 winner over Nishesh Basavareddy. Canada’s Gabriel Diallo edged Australia’s Aleksandar Vukic 7-5, 7-6 (2).
