The Chicago White Sox officially reinstated shortstop Tim Anderson from the injured list Monday and placed third baseman Yoan Moncada (hamstring) on the 10-day IL.
Anderson had been sidelined with a groin injury since May 29.
Moncada underwent further evaluation Monday after missing much of the weekend series at Houston with left-hamstring tightness. Moncada hasn’t played since leaving in the third inning of Friday’s 13-3 loss. His IL stint is retroactive to Saturday.
Anderson sustained a right groin strain in a game against the Chicago Cubs on May 29. He was injured while making a throw.
Anderson, who turns 29 on Thursday, is batting .356 with five homers and 19 RBIs in 40 games this season.
Moncada, 27, is scuffling with .179 average through 29 games. He’s a career .257 hitter with 73 home runs, but has just three HRs this season.
