Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed forward Erling Haaland is likely to miss the next five to seven weeks with an ankle injury he sustained in Sunday’s FA Cup quarterfinal victory over Bournemouth.
Haaland, 24, is due to see a specialist this week.
Guardiola said Haaland will miss all but the final few weeks of the Premier League season.
“The doctors told me between five to seven weeks,” Guardiola said Tuesday. “So hopefully the end of the season and FIFA Club World Cup he will be ready.
“Sometimes there are years when these kinds of things happen. It happened all season.”
Haaland has scored 21 goals in 28 league matches this season for Man City, which stands fifth in the Premier League, a point behind Chelsea and a point ahead of Newcastle United.
