Fancy wins Madden Bowl to complete dream season

Madden Championship Series, Madden Bowl, Madden, EA Sports

Top-seeded Jacob “Fancy” Worthington completed the best season in Madden Championship Series history, beating second-seeded Jonathan “JonBeast” Marquez 31-28 to win the Madden Bowl on Monday in London.

Fancy, from Frisco, Texas, previously won the Kickoff Challenge and the Most Feared Challenge in the Madden 25 season. His $250,000 first prize from the Madden Bowl boosted his season earnings to $358,000.

Regarding his status as the first player to win three MCS events in a season, Fancy said, “It means everything, to do something that no one’s ever done before.”

Fancy said postgame after donning the championship ring, “I actually can’t believe it. It doesn’t feel real yet. I’m in shock.

“When I got that first down to end the game, I was just sitting there in shock, like, ‘I just can’t believe that just happened.’

“To win three tournaments in one year is unbelievable. Just the turnaround for me. No finals appearances before this year, and to have three championships in one season is crazy.”

Asked what he’d do to celebrate, Fancy said, “I’ve been doing nothing but playing Madden the past like I don’t know how (many) months, so I’m just going to relax, take some time off and enjoy it.”

JonBeast, from Hartford, Conn., made $150,000 as the runner-up.

The Madden Bowl final was originally scheduled to be played during Super Bowl week in New Orleans, but it was postponed due to a PlayStation Network outage and later relocated to London.
