FlyQuest won both matches in Wednesday’s Round 3 Low round robin among winless teams at the Demacia Cup Global Invitational in China.
FlyQuest eliminated GAM Esports with a sweep and ousted Shopify Rebellion with a 2-1 win in the Knockout Stage.
The League of Legends event runs through Oct. 17 and began with 12 top teams that didn’t qualify for the World Championship from the six major global regions. They are competing for a prize pool of 1.5 million Chinese yuan (about $223,800 USD).
The Swiss Stage is being held online with best-of-three matches. Eight teams advance to the single-elimination Knockout Stage in Beijing, which starts Monday. Those matches will be best-of-five.
Six teams already have qualified for the Knockout Stage: FEARX, KT Rolster, Team WE, BRION, LGD Gaming and Team Vitality.
The two remaining spots will go to the winners of Thursday’s Round 4 matches: Natus Vincere vs. JD Gaming, and Flyquest vs. RED Canids.
On Wednesday, FlyQuest posted 23- and 26-minute wins against GAM Esports on blue. Shopify Rebellion also swept GAM Esports, winning in 30 minutes on red and 39 minutes on blue. FlyQuest then sandwiched a 31-minute win on red and a 25-minute win on blue around Shopify Rebellion’s 27-minute win on red.
