Gen.G and LYON began Group B at the 2026 First Stand Tournament with wins on Tuesday in Sao Paulo.
Gen.G blanked JD Gaming 3-0 and LYON went back and forth with LOUD before prevailing 3-2 in the upper-bracket semis. The winners moved into the upper-bracket final, while the losing sides will continue in the lower bracket of Group B.
The $1 million League of Legends competition features eight teams competing at Riot Games Arena in the first cross-regional tournament of the season. They were drawn into two groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage on Saturday and Sunday.
All matches are best-of-five. The champions take home $250,000, a quarter of the pot.
On Monday, Gen.G raced past JD Gaming in 23 minutes on red, 24 minutes on blue and 30 minutes on blue. Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu of South Korea won match MVP honors for Gen.G after posting 10 kills, two deaths and 21 assists across the three maps.
Meanwhile, LYON won in 27 minutes on blue before LOUD evened their match in 36 minutes on red. LYON moved back in front in 31 minutes on blue, but LOUD forced a fifth map by taking the fourth in 31 minutes on red. Still on blue, LYON prevailed in 34 minutes to advance.
Poland’s Kacper “Inspired” Sloma was the MVP for LYON by totaling 16 kills, five deaths and 26 assists across the five-map marathon. He did not absorb a single death in any of the three maps LYON won.
