Golden Guardians dump Evil Geniuses in LCS Spring Split

Golden Guardians beat Evil Geniuses on Friday, leaving both teams tied for third place in the League Championship Series Spring Split.

The 10 teams in the top North American League of Legends circuit will play every other team twice through March 17. The first- through fourth-place teams will then head to the upper-bracket semifinals of the double-elimination playoffs. The fifth- and sixth-place teams will enter the playoffs in the lower bracket.

The winner and runner-up in the playoff final will earn berths in the Mid-Season Invitational along with other teams from LoL leagues worldwide. The LCS Spring Split carries a $200,000 prize pool, with the champion earning $100,000.

On Friday, Golden Guardians (7-4) prevailed in 33 minutes on blue against Evil Geniuses (7-4). The United States’ Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes led Golden Guardians with a 9-1-5 kill-death-assist ratio, while South Korea’s Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho finished at 3-1-2 for Evil Geniuses.

First-place FlyQuest posted a 36-minute win on blue against last-place Dignitas. South Korea’s Jeong “Impact” Eon-young amassed a 7-3-3 K-D-A ratio for FlyQuest. The United States’ Frank “Tomo” Lam logged a 5-4-2 K-D-A ratio for Dignitas.

Cloud9 logged a 27-minute win on red against TSM. South Korea’s Jang “EMENES” Min-soo guided Cloud9 with an 8-2-6 K-D-A ratio. Vietnam’s Toan “Neo” Tran was TSM’s star at 6-4-3.

100 Thieves registered a 41-minute win on blue vs. Team Liquid. Denmark’s Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg wound up at 7-1-3 for 100 Thieves, while Australia’s Harry “Haeri” Kang had a 4-2-3 for Team Liquid.

Counter Logic Gaming, playing on red, defeated Immortals in 33 minutes. The United States’ Cristian “Palafox” Palafox recorded a 7-1-6 K-D-A ratio for Counter Logic Gaming, while U.S. countryman Edward “Tactical” Ra finished at 4-4-3 for Immortals.
