Lynn Vision Gaming slip past B8 at BLAST.tv Austin Major

Lynn Vision Gaming pulled out a 2-1 win over B8 on Tuesday and earned one of the last three berths in Stage 3 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major in Texas.

Nemiga Gaming and FaZe Clan advanced with 2-0 wins on Tuesday, over HEROIC and MIBR, respectively.

The $1.25 million Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event, which began with 32 teams, features three Swiss-system group stages.

Sixteen teams advanced through qualifying events to reach Group Stage 1, where all early-round matches were a single map while advancement and elimination matches were best-of-three.

The top eight teams in Group Stage 1 advanced to Group Stage 2, where eight invited teams awaited: Team Falcons, FaZe Clan, 3DMAx, Virtus.pro, paiN Gaming, FURIA, MIBR and M80.

The same process applied in Group Stage 2, with the top eight squads moving on to Group Stage 3, where eight more invited teams will join the action: Team Vitality, MOUZ, Team Spirit, G2 Esports, The MongolZ, Aurora Gaming, Natus Vincere and Team Liquid.

The top eight teams in Group Stage 3 advance to the single-elimination playoffs, where all matches will be best-of-3, including the grand final on June 22.

The winning team will earn $500,000, and the runner-up will pocket $170,000.

On Tuesday, Lynn Vision Gaming opened with a 13-2 win on Dust II before B8 bounced back to claim Ancient 13-9. On the decisive third map, Anubis, Lynn Vision Gaming prevailed 13-7.

Junjie “EmiliaQAQ” Tang amassed 46 kills and a plus-8 kill-death differential for all-Chinese Lynn Vision Gaming. Dmytro “esenthial” Tsvir finished with 53 kills and a plus-12 K-D differential for all-Ukrainian B8.

Nemiga Gaming ousted HEROIC 13-11 on Mirage, 13-9 on Dust II.

Russia’s Ivan “zweih” Gogin compiled 41 kills and a plus-10 K-D differential for Nemiga Gaming. Turkey’s Yasin ‘xfl0ud’ Koc wound up with 40 kills and a plus-9 K-D differential for HEROIC.

FaZe Clan blitzed MIBR 13-4 on Anubis before sealing the match with a 16-12 overtime decision on Ancient.

Slovakia’s David “frozen” Cernansky paced FaZe Clan with 41 kills and a plus-18 K-D differential. Lucas “Lucaozy” Neves logged 38 kills and a plus-5 K-D differential for all-Brazilian MIBR.
