Tundra Esports, Team Falcons and Aurora Gaming punched their playoff tickets with wins Wednesday as the group stage concluded at PGL Wallachia 3 in Bucharest, Romania.
All three winners improved to 3-2 to join previous qualifiers Team Liquid, Team Spirit, Gaimin Gladiators, Team Tidebound and Xtreme Gaming in the double-elimination playoffs at the $1 million Dota 2 tournament. Sunday’s champion will take home a top prize of $300,000.
The do-or-die action on Wednesday produced three sweeps, as Tundra Esports eliminated Natus Vincere, Team Falcons knocked out HEROIC and Aurora Gaming sent Yellow Submarine home.
Tundra Esports won in 50 minutes on red and 22 minutes on green. Russia’s Anton “dyrachyo” Shkredov posted a 12.0/2.5/7.0 kills-deaths-assists ratio to lead Tundra.
Team Falcons posted consecutive 33-minute wins on red, with Slovakia’s Oliver “skiter” Lepko compiling a K-D-A ratio of 9.0/1.0/11.5 against HEROIC.
Aurora Gaming followed up a 33-minute win on red with a 35-minute victory on green. Ukraine’s Artem “lorenof” Melnick posted a K-D-A ratio of 8.5/2.0/10.0 for the winners.
All playoff matches are best-of-three except the best-of-five grand final.
