The Carolina Royal Ravens rallied from the brink of defeat on Sunday, edging Cloud9 New York 3-2 in qualifying action for the Call of Duty League’s Stage 1 Major.
Carolina faced a 2-0 deficit but prevailed on Vault Control (3-1), Protocol Hardpoint (250-105) and Vault Search & Destroy (6-3) to stun New York. At 4-0, the Royal Ravens are one of three undefeated teams still standing in the qualifying stage.
The Toronto Ultra almost faced the opposite fate. They took the first two maps against the Miami Heretics, who responded with a 3-1 victory on Vault Control and a 250-244 win on Skyline Hardpoint.
However, Toronto recovered to crush the Heretics 6-1 on Vault Search & Destroy.
In other action Sunday, the Atlanta FaZe clipped the Vegas Falcons 3-1, while the Los Angeles Thieves bested the Minnesota Rokkr by the same score.
The 12 CDL teams are competing online for seeding in the Stage 1 Minor, scheduled for Jan. 10-12, and the Stage 1 Major, scheduled for Jan. 30-Feb. 2 in Madrid.
