Seven teams sweep to open FISSURE Universe: Episode 4

Seven of the eight matches were sweeps on Saturday in the opening round of FISSURE Universe: Episode 4 group stage.

The $500,000 Dota 2 tournament runs through March 30. The event features a group stage using a modified Swiss system for 16 teams from through March 26. All matches are best-of-three. The top eight teams advance to the playoffs and the remaining teams are eliminated.

The playoffs on March 27-30 use a double-elimination bracket. All matches are best-of-three until the grand final, which is best-of-five. The winning team earns $250,000.

Tundra Esports downed Talon Esports 2-1, winning on red in 27 minutes, losing on green in 29 minutes and deciding the match in 35 minutes on green.

Tundra Esports’ Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanvo of Bulgaria averaged a kills-death-assists ratio of 8.3/3.3/7, while teammate Remco “Crystallis” Arets of the Netherlands posted a 6/3/9.3 ratio.

Talon Esports’ Rafi “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman of Indonesia had a K-D-A of 7/3.7/3.

Sweeps of 2-0 in Round 1 went to Team Tidebound, Team Liquid, BOOM Esports, Gaimin Gladiators, Team Spirit, Team Falcons and Night Pulse.

Tidebound defeated One Move in 27 minutes on green and 41 minutes on red. Team Liquid downed Wildcard in 39 minutes on green and 35 minutes on red. BOOM beat BetBoom in 53 minutes and 39 minutes, both on red.

Gaimin dominated M80 in 29 minutes and 23 minutes, both on green. Spirt shut out Aurora in 40 minutes in 40 minutes on red and 29 minutes on green. Falcons won against 1win Team in 28 and 52 minutes, both on red. Night Pulse had its way with PARIVISION in 39 minutes on green and 26 minutes on red.

The tournament continues Sunday with eight second-round matches:
